THE first-ever Fairfield Fringe Festival gets under way this weekend and continues throughout October – another example of Warrington’s thriving cultural scene.
Opening with a barn dance in The Old School, Fairfield Street on Saturday, the festival will showcase local artists, musicians and cultural activities throughout the month
Hosted by The Old School in conjunction with other community groups, the festival will provide opportunities to little known groups to promote their activities and encourage others to learn new skills, share their knowledge or just enjoy the fantastic art, music and activities that are available locally.
Throughout the month, the work of local artists, photographers, writers and poets will be on display in The Old School.  Working Artists in their studios will welcome visitors, especially on October 17 – Access to Artists Day.
In addition to all the usual live entertainment available throughout the year in the local hostelries, watch out for:
* Well Being Day – lots of pampering and restorative treatments available at special offer prices
* Film Night – showing the acclaimed “Pride”
* Open Mic Fund Raising Night – with St Elfiends Ale – The Ring O’Bells Church Street
* Access to Artists and Workspaces Day
* Music and Dance Workshop Day
* Variety Show Case evening
The event will close on October 31 with Spooky Park III in St. Elphin’s Park.
More information about these and other festival activities are on the Fairfield Fringe Festival Facebook page or from The Old School, telephone 01925 418633.
