Garage firm wins plans battle

A CONTROVERSIAL motor repair business at Warrington is to be allowed to carry on operating, despite objections from nearby residents.
The borough council’s planning committee decided to grant retrospective permission to K & M Motors (Warrington) Ltd in respect of the premises off Knutsford Road, Latchford.
Local councillor Maureen McLaughlin (pictured) opposed the scheme on the grounds that a change of use from the previous flooring company was resulted in noise, fumes and traffic problems.
This had had a severe impact on neighbours who could no longer enjoy sitting in their gardens or even leave their windows open in warm weather.
Planning officers argued that the proposals did not involve any alterations to the external appearance of the building and the outlook for nearby residents remained unchanged.
They said the business would be able to operate at a level that would not cause significant harm to neighbours.
