Peel Hall has something to celebrate

THERE will something extra to celebrate when the annual fun day at Warrington’s Peel Hall Park gets under way today.
Organisers will be able to announce that the park has won Queen Elizabeth 2 Field status – which means it has additional protection against developers.
The opening ceremony – by a local 11-year-old girl – will take place at about 11.30am.
News that the park has been accepted for QE2 Field status only came through from national organisers Fields in Trust yesterday.
Originally, Warrington Borough Council decided not to seek QE2 Field status for the park on the grounds it was already adequately protected.
But earlier this year, the council changed its mind following pressure from local residents and put in an application – which has now proved successful.
Local resident Bob Haskew-Jones said: “We have been campaigning for this for 14 months. We are delighted – we have plenty to celebrate now.”
