Housing plan approved

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for two semi-detached houses – despite opposition from nearby residents who claimed their homes and gardens would be overlooked.
The development on the site of the former headquarters of Warrington Silver Band in Loushers Lane, Latchford was approved by the borough council’s development management committee.
Twelve householders in Loushers Lane had lodged objections to the plan put forward by Foden Estates Ltd.
They claimed the site should be retained as a community facility, that the houses would overlook adjoining gardens in Pearson Avenue and Secker Avenue, that the new properties would not be in keeping with others in Loushers Lane and that there would be additional parking and traffic problems.
The site was previously occupied by a single storey building used as a rehearsal room by the Silver Band.
Planning officers pointed out that the site already had outline planning consent for residential purposes.
It was not considered that the benefits of the building as a community facility were of such weight as to justify withholding planning permission for new development.
Officers said there would be an adequate distance between the new houses and the nearest existing ones.
