Warrington is economic powerhouse!

WARRINGTON has done better than ever in a survey which evaluates the economic performance of the UK’s 64 main cities, and has further enhanced its position as a major player in terms of business and investment.

Warrington continues to outperform other cities in particular sectors and this success is a key feature of the Centre for Cities report for 2013, which serves to highlight the town’s strong economic position and boosts the town’s reputation as a premier place to do business in the UK.
The report states that the outlook for Warrington is positive and is one of the few places with the largest relative improvement in ranking.
Warrington has been placed in the top five for business investment and the top ten for business and enterprise
Other key figures include Warrington being 7th highest ranked for employment rate, private sector jobs growth and highest ratio of private sector to public sector employment.
It notes that a recovery in house prices is a major factor in the overall performance of the town and the council’s multi million pound Bridge Street Quarter regeneration project will have a positive impact.
Welcoming the report council leader Cllr Terry O’Neill, (pictured left) said: “We have had a tremendous start to 2013 in terms of regeneration and this is only the beginning of the journey.
“The Centre for Cities report reaffirms our strong economic position and success and is yet another source of inspiration that encourages us to drive forward with our ambitious regeneration plans, which will touch every part of our community.
“We are laying the foundations for a bright and rewarding future for Warrington and its residents.”
“The report also reinforces our message to the investment and business sector – come to Warrington and join in our success. Warrington means business and it does business very well.”
The Warrington Means Business programme is the driver for the town’s business growth agenda. To find out more visit www.warrington.gov.uk/warringtonmeansbusiness

  1. I think you’ll find that it is despite, not because of, the activities of the Labour junta. …..Having elected members who are apparently impotent when it comes to planning only gets you so far.
