Town targets brownfield land

0

WARRINGTON is making good use of previously developed land for new housing, councillors have been told.
Of 620 new homes in the borough, 608 were built on previously developed land, according to the local planning framework annual monitoring report.
House building provided a welcome boost to the local economy – particularly the construction industry and its supply chains, the report adds.
Every local planning authority is required to produce an annual monitoring report by the end of the year.
Other headline findings from the report include:
*187 affordable homes were completed during the year, with 110 of these being for social rent.
*There continues to be a healthy take up of renewable energy schemes across the borough – for example the 12 new local authority affordable homes built in this period featured eco-friendly solar panels.
*A total of 11 Section 106 agreements with a combined value of approximately £1.7 million were secured during the year.
