Injured dog rescued by fire crew

FIREFIGHTERS at Warrington came to the rescue of a dog which had become impaled on a sharp tree branch while being taken for a walk by its owner.
The incident was in Grasmere Woods at Radley Common, Orford yesterday (Thursday).
One fire engine was sent to the scene after the alarm was raised.
It was discovered the dog – which had been running in the woods, had stepped on a sharp branch which had gone through its hind leg.
The animal was sedated and firefighters then cut through the branch using specialist tools. The dog was taken to a vet’s surgery where the remaining part of the branch was removed.
It is believed the dog is now recovering at home.
