Greetings from Afghanistan

1

HUNDREDS of servicemen and women from the North West will be spending Christmas and the New Year in Afghanistan – doing their best to celebrate while remaining constantly on guard against the Taliban.
As usual, Warrington has supplied a good number of soldiers – and three have sent Christmas and New Year messages to family and friends through Warrington-Worldwide.
Private Simon Macklin (upper right) is currently serving in Patrol Base (PB) Salang, and would like to say “Merry Christmas to all the family back home, have a few on
Me.”
Lance Corporal Chris Molyneux (lower right) is currently working in Lashkar Gah and would like to
say ” Merry Xmas to all my family and friends and a Happy New Year. See you all soon on R and R.”
Kingsman Barry Thorne (left) is currently serving in Forward Operating Base (FOB) Attal
with 1 Lancashire Regiment and would like to say “I wish all my friends and family
back home a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year”.
Everyone at Warrington-Worldwide is happy to reciprocate by sending Christmas and New Year greetings to ALL British troops in Afghanistan – and wishing them a happy and safe New Year.
Some 9,000 British troops are currently serving in Afghanistan, although the numbers are due to be reduced by half next year with all the remaining troops coming home in 2014.
