Charity founder to retire

SUE Banton, founder of the Lymm-based national charity STEPS, has announced that she is to retire early in the New Year.
She wants to plan for a smooth handover and is seeking someone to take over the role of director of the charity, which supports the families of children with conditions such as clubfoot, hip dysplasia and other lower limb conditions that affect mobility.
STEPS is a small charity, but supports some 2,000 families annually.
Sue founded the organisation more than 30 years ago when her son, Daniel, was born with club feet.
She was awarded the MBE for her work in 2010.
In addition to looking for someone to take over her own role and secure the long-term future of the charity, Sue wants to strengthen the team by recruiting new Trustees.
“”This is a real opportunity for someone to help shape the future for STEPS and play a part in our successes,” she said.
STEPS are particularly interested in people with a background in health, finance, local government or legal and who, ideally, live within the North West. The role is unpaid, but any additional costs incurred will be reimbursed.
STEPS can be contacted on 01925 750271 and more information is available at the website www.steps-charity.org.uk/Get-Involved/trustee-recruitment.html
