Former youth base to be sold

TOWN Hall bosses have agreed to sell a former youth club building by auction.
The former Burtonwood Youth Base has been empty since last year and has become a target for theft and vandalism.
Officers believe the sale could generate up to £100,000 and that there could be interest in the property for uses such as a private children’s nursery, residential or office conversion.
Local residents have been consulted and while most accepted the need to do something with the property, some were concerned that any development would be sympathetic to the surroundings.
Since 2007, property sales have raised more than £11 million for the council and reduced revenue costs by more than £250,000-a-year.

  1. Yet with that “11 million plus” and the massive savings, we are still facing cutbacks. Just what is the financial deficit in Warrington. It makes you wonder if they have two sets of books. One for Joe Public and the other for the Town Hall.

  2. Yet another mismanaged asset. This council seems to make a habit of not looking after the family silver and not bother to hold anyone to account for doing so. Still, why bother it’s only someone else’s money that has gone down the drain.
