Moustaches break out at college

AN outbreak of moustaches has started among male staff at Warrington Collegiate.
Led by Gary Lindsay, health and safety officer, they are joining the worldwide campaign known as Movember. The campaign started among friends in Australia and requires men to grow a moustache and publicise men’s health.
The collegiate men want to raise funds and awareness of men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Gary said: “We were inspired by the Pink Ribbon campaign for breast cancer and thought, what can we do for male cancer. Then I discovered Movember.com and talked to colleagues about it.
“From there it quickly grew and developed. We’ve now got a really motivated team and three days into the month we’ve already got over £150 pledged from staff at college. We’re aiming for lots more.”
He said the men joining in must be clean shaven at the start and during the month grow and groom a moustache.
Gary said: “There are strict rules for the moustache, known as a Mo. You can’t join it to sideburns as that’s considered a beard, neither can you join the handlebars to the chin as that’s considered a goatee. We’re taking weekly photos and as our moustaches grow it’ll be fun to see the different styles that appear on the top lip.”
