A MAN who dialled 999 following a crash in which a Warrington motor cyclist was killed is being sought by police.
The man – who spoke with a local accent – called emergency services from a phone box in Victoria Avenue, Widnes, even though the crash occurred in Warrington Road, Runcorn.
He left no details about himself.
PC Ian Dodd said: “We are urging this person to come forward as they may have important information, which could assist with our enquiries, or they could be a witness.
“We are appealing for them to contact us as a matter of urgency. Similarly, anyone who may be able to assist in progressing these enquiries should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
The crash, involving a car and a motor cycle, occurred on Sunday, October 14, shortly before 10.50pm.
Motor cyclist Jack Bellis (pictured), 19, from Padgate, was rushed to Aintree Hospital, Liverpool, with serious injuries. He died the following day.
The mystery call from Victoria Avenue, Widnes, was not made until just after midnight.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the crash and bailed pending further enquiries.
