Planners oppose stables scheme

PLANNING chiefs are being urged to reject proposals for a stable block on Green Belt land off Tannery Lane, Penketh, Warrington.
Objections have come from Penketh Parish Council and borough councillors for the Penketh area.
The scheme was originally submitted earlier in the year but withdrawn as a result of planning officers’ concerns.
Originally the scheme involved stabling for six horses, but it has now been reduced to four.
But officers say the development would intensify a sub-standard access to Tannery Lane.
Penketh Parish Council says the area has a history of accidents due to visibility problems on a hazardous blind corner. It is already congested due to school drop-offs, buses and walkers and bringing horses onto the public highway near a dangerous junction would exacerbate problems.
