FORMER member of the Youth Parliament for Warrington South Tom Jennings has been elected chairman of Warrington Young Labour group
He was elected at the annual general meeting of the group, attended by 25 young people from all over the borough.
Warrington Young Labour has more than 100 members, aged between 15 and 24.
Tom (pictured), from Grappenhall, had a controversial start to his political career when he was criticised for breaking protocol while speaking at a borough council meeting and later accused the council – then controlled by a Liberal Democrat/Conservative coalition – of telling “blatant lies” over plans for a youth café in the town centre.
He also helped organised a demonstration outside the Town Hall over cuts in spending on youth services.
Apart from politics, he is interested in music and started a rock band with a group of friends.

  1. I trust he behaved himself in the meeting? 🙂

25% turnout is hardly a demonstration of an enthusiastic membership – still when the party markets membership like a cheap pair of socks from poundland what can you expect? 🙁
