Flooded schools still closed

TWO schools at Warrington remain closed today after being forced to send pupils home yesterday because of flooding
Emergency work is going on at William Beamont High and Meadowside Primary – both at Orford – to enable them to re-open as soon as possible.
But an open evening at Beamont High, scheduled to take place this evening, has been postponed.
Meanwhile, with improving weather forecasted, flood warnings were being lifted.
The Environment Agency is still warning of possible flooding from Sankey Brook in the Dallam area, and at Newton-le-Willows, but other warnings in the Warrington area have been lifted.
Firefighters from Warrington were called out to pump floodwater away from buildings yesterday.
They went to the BT building at Europa Boulevard, Gemini, to pump out the building and car park and also to a house in Winwick Road, Longford, where water was coming up through a drain in the back garden where a light portable pump was used for several hours.
