Flying the flag in Chicago

THREE Warrington school girls are heading off to join a leadership programme in Chicago, USA, in July.
The girls, all aged 15 and pupils of Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School, are busy fundraising to each raise £2,500 for their trip.
The school is a centre of excellence for the HOBY UK Leadership Development residential programme. It has so far played host to more than 200 young people.
Holly Gardener, Lauren Yarwood and Eleanor Panting, were three of last year’s HOBY UK delegates. They are looking forward to furthering their experience and their leadership development by attending HOBY’s World Leadership Congress in Chicago.
All three are looking forward to the adventure. Eleanor believes it will improve her future chances in work and business.
Lauren said: “My friends, family and myself have noticed a different side of me since going away to HOBY – going to the World Leadership Congress will just be an amazing experience, people coming from all over the world with different origin and backgrounds.”
Her comments were echoed by Holly who added: “I also wish to show other people from around the world that the youth of Great Britain are not like the images they may have seen recently on the news, but are a youth with a conscience.”
