Talks to start on town centre plan

A MAJOR public consultation will start in the spring on Warrington’s bold plan to regenerate the Bridge Street area of the town centre.
The scheme is one of the largest, active regeneration projects in the North West – including new shops, restaurants, a gym, cinema, foodstore, indoor market, cultural centre, hotel and council offices.
A major part of the scheme will be the replacement of Warrington Market and re-development of Time Square.
Last summer, the borough council chose Muse Developments Ltd as its partner to deliver the ambitious proposals.
Cllr Mike Hannon, (pictured) deputy leader of the council, who has special responsibility for the town centre, said over the last few months a lot of work had been going on behind the scenes and a public consultation on the draft plans was due to begin in the spring.
During this period of feedback, residents, local businesses and other stakeholders would have a chance to outline their priorities.
Cllr Hannon said “We want to give the town centre a new heart and focus and we feel these plans will provide a more attractive place for residents to live and work in.”
Work is expected to begin on site as early as next year.
Muse Developments are a major national development company which has already carried out several schemes in the Warrington area, including the Gemini and Lingley Mere business parks.
