Wolfie wants his say!

WARRINGTON Wolves are supporting this year’s local elections and sent club mascot Wolfie to the Town Hall to make sure he gets his say too.
But he was really there to remind residents who not registered to vote that they must do so by Thursday, April 14.
People who have recently moved but not yet told the council should complete a voter registration form, which can be sent to them or downloaded from the council website www.warrington.gov.uk/council/electoralregister or from the Electoral Commission website at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk
Residents can also check that their name is included on the register by calling the council’s elections office on 01925 442184 or by emailing [email protected]
Barbara Lines, Electoral Commission regional manager, said: “The Electoral Commission, the independent elections watchdog, is sending a booklet to every household in the UK with information about how to have your say on May 5. Don’t let the deadline, and the chance to have your say, pass you by!”
Residents also need to be registered to vote in the referendum on a proposed new voting system for Parliamentary elections – to be held on the same day as the local elections.
The question being put to voters is: “At present, the UK uses the “first past the post” system to elect MPs to the House of Commons. Should the “alternative vote’ system be used instead?”
Voters will be able to answer “No” or “Yes”.
