Motorists warned: more snow coming

1

WARRINGTON appears to have escaped the worst of today’s snow, but elsewhere in Cheshire police have reported treacherous conditions.
And more snow could be on the way.
Cheshire Police responded to more than 30 calls from the public reporting collisions, with more than 20 taking place between 7am and noon.
Worst hit areas were Macclesfield, Chester and Northwich with commuters badly affected during the morning rush hours.
There was also heavy snow in the Frodsham area.
No life threatening injuries have been reported, however.
The majority of calls to police were about cars skidding off the road, or colliding with other vehicles due to poor road conditions.
As the evening rush hour approaches, police are advising motorists to only make journeys that are absolutely necessary.
Drivers should ensure windscreens are full defrosted and should maintain a safe and constant speed, avoiding sudden braking that can cause cars to skid.
