Adult care service performing well

WARRINGTON Borough Council’s adult social care services are performing well, according to the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The annual assessment report measures the service by seven indicators – and CQC’s judgement is that in three of those, Warrington’s service is “excellent.”
They are improved health and well-being, making a positive contribution and maintaining personal dignity and respect.
The council has performed well in the other four indicators – improved quality of life, increased choice and control, freedom from discrimination or harassment and economic well-being.
It is second year the CQC has judged Warrington to be performing well – which means the service overall consistently delivers above minimum requirements, is cost-effective and makes contributions to wider outcomes for the community.
There is only one higher grade.
The rating is derived from various sources of information collected by the CQC throughout the year and also from a self-assessment process.
Broad aim of the assessment is to improve quality of life, promote and maintain independence and avoid crisis intervention in both health and social care and reduce ongoing demand and cost of services.
The assessment shows “significant progress” towards these aims, according to Coun Roy Smith, (pictured) the council’s executive member for health and well-being.
CQC chiefs say the council has a clear vision and ambition to raise standards of performance and improve outcomes for local people.
They highlight only three areas for improvement – a need to continue to progress plans for the integration of intermediate care and reablement services, to continue to development a neighbourhood agenda to ensure the views of hard to reach groups are heard and to reduce sickness absence within the neighbourhood and community services directorate.

  1. Yes Sha I am. The social worker assigned to mums case is brilliant as are the carers who look after her. They are not council staff but are from an outside agency but are equally as good….I’m not a great lover of some of the things this council do, but this one (cetrainly in my case) they have got about right
