AN insight into how ICT helps Warrington Hospital look after 600,000 patients a year was given to Priestley College students.
The students, who are studying ICT-related courses, were shown the day-to-day systems that keep the hospital functioning.
They had presentations on how ICT is used in departments ranging from intensive care to administration. They saw how ICT helps keep the hospital running smoothly and saw the potential for future careers in the public sector.
Pam Williams, clinical nurse educator at the hospital, led a presentation and highlighted how ICT is essential in the day-to-day care of all and how it is used for monitoring patients in theatre and the correct administration of blood supplies.
College ICT tutor Karen Geary said: “It was excellent that Warrington Hospital welcomed us as a group to their site and gave the students this valuable presentation. It is always good for the students to get a first hand account of how ICT is used in the real world and what potential career opportunities exist for them.”
