Students' fair trade market

STUDENTS at Warrington’s Priestley College organised a Christmas Market with a Fair Trade theme.
Business, Administration and Finance Diploma students staged the event on campus with a range of stalls to promote Fair Trade. The day highlighted the problems with world trade, and the situation facing third world producers from low margins to poor working conditions.
Taking part were national retailer Divine Chocolate and Warrington Market’s Fair 4 All stall. Students also sold cakes, held a raffle and ran a book swap shop, and Fair Trade Christmas Cards were also on sale.
Student Matt Rees said: “It was a really good event to raise awareness of Fair Trade amongst the college community and allows students to now be empowered when purchasing products in the future.
“In total we raised over £100 which was donated directly to Fair Trade.”
