WARRINGTON Borough Council has received the results of its 2010 Care Quality Commission assessment – and the overall verdict is that the service is performing well.
In its report the CQC stated the council was continuing to perform well in four areas and excellently in three areas, including improving health and wellbeing and maintaining dignity and respect.
Management and leadership in the community services directorate are strong, it was noted and the clear and shared vision to raise standards of performance further and improve outcomes for local people was praised.
Good partnership working was also recognised, as was the strong political support in this area by the elected members.
The report stated: “The commissioning of residential and domiciliary care is informed by robust intelligence and engagement with people who use the services.”
Coun Roy Smith, the council’s executive member for health and wellbeing said: “All concerned should be very proud of maintaining this high level of service, particularly during a directorate restructure. I would like to sincerely thank all the staff who contributed to this great achievement.”
The Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England.
