DRIVERS in Warrington are being urged to be on their guard against thieves following a sudden upsurge in incidents of theft from vehicles.
Since the start of October there has been an increase in incidents – particularly in the west of the borough
Items stolen include sat navs, mobile phones, cameras and golf clubs.
Officers are currently investigating the incidents and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
Sergeant Mark Spaven said: “There have been a number of reports of thefts from cars in the Warrington West area. We are urging drivers to remain vigilant and to keep their vehicles safe and secure at all times.
“We are committed to tackling this type of crime and local officers are doing all they can to reduce the number of thefts from vehicles in the area. But we need the continued support of motorists to help drive down this type of crime.”
Drivers are being urged to remain security conscious and to take steps to reduce the chances of their vehicle being targeted.
Cars should be kept locked – even if the owner is away for only a few seconds. Alarms and steering locks should be activated.
Valuable items should be removed.
