PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are being asked to rule on proposals for a storage building to house a vintage car collection – and an army tank.
Work has already started on the 620 sq metre building which stands on Green Belt land on a 14-acre estate at Lymm – angering neighbours who claim this shows a disregard for them and for planning law.
Applicant Rod Bond says the building replaces a slightly smaller one which it would be unviable to restore.
In addition to his collection of vintage cars and the military tank, he wants to use it for kennels, an aviary, storage and replacement living accommodation for a security guard and his family.
The original building was of 536 sq metres but was six metres high compared with the new one which will be 5.3 metres.
Neighbours say the original building could not be seen from their homes while the new one will be clearly visible.
They claim it visibly impairs the Green Belt .
Coun Sheila Woodyatt is opposing the scheme on the grounds of overdevelopment, harm to the Green Belt and harm to residential amenity.
But planning officers are recommending that the borough’s planning sub-committee approve the project.
