Music fans must show respect

FESTIVAL-goers attending the Creamfields music festival are being urged to be on their best behaviour and respect the local community.
Cheshire Police is urging those attending the two-day event at Daresbury over the August Bank Holiday weekend, to be respectful to residents as they arrive and leave the site. Drinking alcohol outside the site will be banned to minimise trouble.
Police from Warrington and Widnes will work together to protect the communities and deal with specific concerns and issues.
Inspector Gary McIntyre said: “We are once again asking all ticket-holders to be mindful of the fact that the site lies in a residential area and to be respectful towards neighbouring properties as they enter and leave the site.
“There will be an increase in the amount of traffic on local roads in the area over the weekend and we would ask those heading to and from the event to be patient and to work with us to help minimise any impact on the local community.”
He said anti-social behaviour and drinking in the street, would not be tolerated and action would be taken against anyone causing disruption.
The area around the site has been designated an Alcohol Free Zone – so drinking in the street outside the site will be banned. Alcohol will be confiscated and action taken against anyone breaking the rule.
Officers will also be using their Discretion to Leave powers, which can force people to leave the area for up to 48 hours, if they feel there may be a chance of alcohol-related crime or disorder. If people then do not leave, they will be arrested.
