Learning to play bridge

DATEN Bridge Club will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012 – and is already gearing up for the occasion with a membership drive.
The 60-strong club – a section of Culcheth Sports and Social Club – wants to attract new members, particularly younger ones.
A new “learn to play Bridge” course aimed at complete beginners is starting, led by teacher Bernard Kaye, who has qualified through the English Bridge Union.
The course will start on September 28 at 7.30pm and will run for 20 weeks.
Bridge is a partnership game said to stimulate the brain and help slow the decline of mental activity with age.
It is also an excellent way of meeting people.
