POLICE are appealing for information after a set of valuable bagpipes was stolen in Warrington.
The instrument, stored in a black canvas bag, was taken from a van parked outside Jelly Beans on the Riverside Industrial Estate.
A police spokeswoman said the bagpipes consist of a royal blue bag with gold trim and 70’s squadron ATC LXX embroidered in gold. There were other pipe covers in the black canvas bag along with other items.
The theft took place on August 1 between 1.15pm and 2.20pm.
Sergeant Ian Stott, of Warrington Central Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “This is an unusual and expensive item with great sentimental value and we want to ensure that it is returned to its rightful owner.
“We are doing all we can to trace those responsible and we are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who knows who is responsible for the theft to come forward.”
Drivers across Warrington are being urged to be vigilant and to take steps to reduce the chances of falling foul of thieves.
Motorists are being urged to ensure that their vehicle is locked and secure at all times and that the alarm is activated and the steering lock used.
Anyone with any information in relation to the theft is urged to call Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000. Information can also be left anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.

  1. This is the 3rd incident I’ve heard of on JellyBeans car park – my friend had her side window smashed and there was nothing in the car to steal. It’s got such a bad reputation for car theft and vandalism that many parents I know simply won’t take their children there – they need to sort something out – CCTV in the car park for example – otherwise they will have no business left if parents vote with their feet and go elsewhere.
