Car sales centre problem

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are to visit the site of a proposed car sales centre after hearing of the fears of local residents that it may cause serious traffic problems.
Members of the borough council’s planning sub-committee will visit a factory building in the Old Liverpool Road area of the town to decide if it can be satisfactorily converted into a car salesroom.
One nearby resident claims the change of use will increase existing traffic problems and Coun Pat Wright has objected on the grounds of damage to residential amenity and increased traffic.
Coun Bob Timmis has also expressed concern..
The scheme involves changing the use of a recently constructed industrial building by adding extra windows and closing off a service entrance.
Officers say a similar, earlier proposal was withdrawn because of concerns that car transporters might have to load and unload on Old Liverpool Road, hindering the safe flow of traffic.
But they believe these concerns have now been met by proposals to relocate and widen the access.
