A WARRINGTON primary school is celebrating after being taken out of “special measures” ahead of schedule.
Bewsey Lodge Primary, Lodge Lane, is now a satisfactory school that is improving according to its latest Ofsted report.
During a recent visit inspectors noted improvements made, particularly in teaching, resulting from well-focused support and intervention and the good leadership of the headteacher, senior and middle managers.
The lead inspector said: “The headteacher and two assistant headteachers, together with good support from effective middle leaders, have successfully driven forward the school’s significant improvement since the last inspection.
“The positive impact of their combined work demonstrates the school’s good capacity to sustain improvement in the future.”
It was reported that the progress pupils make at the school is now improving and pupils’ learning and progress in lessons are good. Pupils also told inspectors that their school is a happy place.
Chairman of governors Mike Organ said: “The governing body is extremely proud of the tremendous progress and achievement the school has attained and we would want to congratulate the head and all the staff for their hard work and commitment.
“We would also want to thank the parents for their role in supporting us over the last two years and the children for their excellent response to change and for rising to the high expectations of them. We are thrilled to have come successfully through special measures and to be able to celebrate with the school such superb SATs results.”
The positive report from Ofsted was further supported by an improvement in the school’s Key Stage two SATs results – 89 per cent of children this year achieved level four or above in English and 79 per cent in Mathematics.
