School to make headline news

FIFTEEN pupils from a Warrington high school are joining up with others from around 700 schools across the UK this week to take part in a BBC project to engage 11-14 year-olds in making the news.
BBC news presenter Huw Edwards, a former teacher, is lending his support to the project which takes place on Thursday.
The Warrington youngsters, from Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School, are taking part in BBC News school report and over the last few months have been carrying out interviews and producing reports
Huw Edwards said: “I’m involved because I want to give young people the chance to make the news themselves, and I want to share the principles of good journalism.”
The Warrington pupils have interviewed a number of local people, including Tim Vine, the Mayor and Warrington Wolves players.
Their news will be broadcast at 2pm – covering the stories of the day as well as their special report on why Warrington has been voted the happiest place to live in the North West.
Project news editor Meg Booth from year 10 said: “It’s been great fun. My favourite bit so far has been seeing the hard work all come together and getting an idea of what the finished product will look like.”
The schools are also attempting to set the World Record for the Largest Interactive Weather Report.
To help with this, pupils from the school will be taking the temperature at 9.15 am and submitting it to BBC Weather who will be compiling it into a weather report.
