Wolves accept five match ban

WARRINGTON Wolves have decided not to appeal against forward Ben Westwood’s five-match ban for a high tackle.
Westwood, 27, was placed on report by Australian referee Jason Robinson after a high shot which knocked out Dane Carlaw during the Wolves’ 40-20 home defeat by Catalans Dragons.
He admitted the offence at an appearance before the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary committee and in addition to the five-match ban, which sidelines him until the 4th round of the Challenge Cup in April, the England international was also fined £300.As a result he will miss a return to his former club wakefield this Friday.
It is another major blow for Wolves’ Head Coach Jimmy Lowes who is seeking to end a run of seven consecutive defeats dating back to last August.
They are also facing up to losing new signing Garreth Carvell, the former Hull prop, for a lengthy period, after he damaged knee ligaments on his home debut against the Dragons.
Also missing from the squad are Paul Johnson, Stuart Reardon and Kevin Penny. But hooker Jon Clarke is named in the 19 after recovering from a broken arm.
The full 19 man squad for Friday’s game at Wakefield, kick off 8pm on SKY TV is:
3.Martin Gleeson 4.Matt King 6.Lee Briers 7.Michael Monaghan 8.Adrian Morley 9.Jon Clarke 10. Paul Rauhihi 11. Louis Anderson 13. Vinnie Anderson 14. Mickey Higham 15. Paul Wood 17.
