Takeaway food shop battle resumes

PLANNING bosses at Warrington are to meet a second time to try and reach a decision over a controversial plan for a hot food takeaway shop.
The scheme in Liverpool Road, Great Sankey is being opposed by the local parish council, by borough councillor Roy Smith and by a number of nearby residents.
Members of the borough’s development control committee have already made a site inspection.
The site involves a former furniture store which has been sub-divided into three unit.
One end unit has already been occupied by a pizza firm and the new application involves the other end unit.
Nearby residents fear if the scheme is approved it will mean no type of business other than a third takeaway will be persuaded to take the centre unit.
Objectors also fear smell and litter problems, as well as additional traffic issues.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved, however and say it will have no significant adverse impact on the living conditions of nearby residents.
