Local film chosen for festival

A FILM made by members of Warrington Cine and Video Society has been chosen for a “North v South” competition to take place in January.
The film, “Nomad Soul” is one of four films representing the North.
Two of the society’s own internal competitions, the Walter Last and Niklaus contests, were both won by Derek Belton.
The first draft edit of “Crossed Wires” – a society film making use of a “green screen” was screened and, although incomplete, gave a good idea of what the final look will be.
Green screen is where a subject is filmed in front of a green background. In post production the green screen is digitally replaced by a chosen background. This can bring on many possibilities, such as making someone appear as though they are flying, or walking on the moon.
The Society was visited by Nick Gladden, from the North West Film Archive, who showed some cine film taken in Liverpool when the Mersey Tunnel was first opened in 1937.
December is opening with the Elf Rose Bowl and Novices competitions after which members will celebrate with a party and dinner before closing for Christmas and New Year to re-open on January 5.
WCVS meet on a Monday evening (except Bank Holidays) at Silver Band Hall, Loushers Lane, from 8pm-10pm. For more information visit www.wcvs.net or ring 01925 480822.
