Difficult waste collection success

REFUSE collection services to “hard to reach” properties in Warrington are to be stepped up, following the success of a special service introduced in April.
About 400 properties – many of them farms and other homes in rural areas – are serviced each week, using a smaller bin wagon purchased by the borough council specifically for the purpose.
Weekly residual waste collections are carried out and about 250 of the properties, which asked for the service, also have green waste collected fortnightly.
The vehicle is also to be used on Mondays to empty litter bins if funding is available to replace existing bins in specific locations, such as vehicle lay-bys.
But the council has now ordered a second smaller vehicle to collect dry recyclable goods, such as paper, plastic, glass, etc from the hard-to-reach properties
