Rugby ace dies in crash

A Former Warrington Rugby League player has been named by Cheshire Police as the man who died when a white van crashed on the M6 yesterday, just hours before another tragedy which claimed the lives of six people, all members of the same family.

David Myers played for Warrington in the 1989-1990 season after signing from Widnes and then went on to Wigan where he had a successful career, winning a Challenge Cup winners medal in the 1991 final.

David made six appearances for the

Wire in the 1989- 1990.

Mr Myers, from Warrington, died when his white van collided with a bridge parapet, on the M6 northbound carriageway near Sandbach.

Police are investigating the possibility of a connection between the crash and another tragedy involving six members of the same family, two adults and four children, being killed during a horrific multiple accident on the same motorway.

Three lorries and two cars were involved and one of the cars burst into flames.
