LYMM Rugby Club is launching a brand new “Grass Roots” appeal in an attempt to raise more money to purchase land for new pitches.
The club has produced a Lymm Grass Roots Sports Appeal prospectus to offer a range of sponsorship options to help them reach their £50,000 target.
It is hoped that new businesses and residents will become involved in sponsorship deals, which will help them clinch a new 10-acre site for playing fields.
Former club member, David Strettle, now of Harlequins and recently capped by England, said: “I started playing rugby when I was five years old, working up the age groups, then joined the Colts and subsequently, at 17, the first team at Lymm Rugby Club. This experience taught me everything that rugby was about and, as importantly, what a rugby club means to its community.
“The fun, enjoyment and camaraderie of team sports mean so much, especially when you are young and need positive encouragement. I am fortunate to have experienced such a nurturing, happy environment in Lymm and recognise why this has been so beneficial to my rugby career.
“For this, and many more reasons, my support of the Lymm Grass Roots Sports Appeal is total and I encourage everyone, from the youngest mini rugby player and their parents and grandparents to the local business community, to get behind Lymm Rugby Club as it raises these crucial funds to buy and develop this much-needed, additional land. Lymm Rugby Club is, in many ways, a unique and great place and I believe we are all fortunate to be part of it. Let’s make the most of it and continue to create something special.”
