Gritters tackle melting roads!

GRITTERS normally used to deal with snow and ice have taken to the roads of Warrington – to tackle melting tarmac!
A council spokesperson said:“Due to extremely high temperatures throughout Warrington and the UK, roads are starting to show signs of melting.
“A recent surface dressing scheme undertaken at Phipps Lane in Burtonwood was recently inspected and emergency action was required to prevent further melting of the road.
“The contractor for the works was requested to attend site and to apply grit to the road surface. This was undertaken over some considerable distance using a road gritter in the usual manner to cover large quantities.
“Timely intervention is extremely important to protect roads in such high temperatures, and we area very pleased that the contractor was able to mobilise with appropriate equipment at short notice.”

  1. That is all well and good but now we have roads that are covered with large amounts of grit and gravel that are a real hazard to cyclists and motorcyclists, are there a,ny plans to have this excess grit removed?
