Delays on M56 due to vehicle fire

UPDATED: TWO fire crews attended a car fire that caused traffic delays on the M56 near Warrington on Bank Holiday Monday morning.

At 10:49 Two fire engines, from Runcorn and Lymm attended the car fire on the eastbound carriageway of the M56 between Junction 10 and Junction 11.

One vehicle was well alight on the hard shoulder. One hose reel and breathing apparatus were used to put the fire out. All occupants of the vehicle were accounted for and temporary lane closures were put into place on part of the eastbound carriageway while crews dealt with the incident.

Two lanes (of 3) are closed but have since re-opened
