GRAPPENHALL went down by four wickets at home to Tattenhall – despite a superb innings of 107 from Jason Batson.
It was a good all-round batting performance from Grappers, enabling them to reach 250-7 in 50 overs. Daniel Adkins hit 39 and skipper William Fell 28.
But it proved to be not enough as the visitors replied with 251-6 in 41 overs. Grappers picked up six points with what was one of their best performances of the season so far.
Adam Edwards took 3-65 for Grappenhall and Batson followed up his century with 2-58.
Unfortunately the result leaves Grappers at the bottom of the table – with Tattenhall one place above them.
Grappenhall 2nd won by 44 runs at Port Sunlight.
The home side won the toss and asked Grappenhall to bat first – a decision they came to regret as Grappers’ skipper Graeme Rowlands hit 105, steering his side towards a challenging total of 262-7. Matthew Hardman hit 47 not out and James Knowles 34.
At 201-5 the hosts were in with a shout but three wickets fell with the score on 207 and the team could only muster 218.
Stanley Pennington took 4-30.
Warrington went down by 108 runs in a high scoring match at Runcorn.
They asked the hosts to bat first only to see them amass 372-7. A Umar took 4-68 but the bowlers struggled on a good batting wicket.
Warrington went for the runs with wicket-keeper M Rudd top-scoring with 77. But in the end they were all out for 264.
Warrington 4th, 122, defeated Frodsham, 77, at Walton Lea.
Lymm Oughtrington Park went down by eight wickets at Woodford after being bowled out for 62. The home side lost only two wickets reaching their modest target.
Lymm 2nd celebrated a 110-run victory at home to Port Sunlight.
Batting first they hammered 184-5, H. Cross hitting 47 not out before dismissing the visitors for 74 in 28 overs.
Lymm 3rd won by eight wickets at Glazebury after dismissing the home side for 104. David Lee took 3-10.
Appleton won by at Malpas after dismissing the home side for 77. Pick of the bowlers was Aspin Gopi with 4-19.
Skipper Ian Richards top-scored with 32 as Appleton replied with 82-3.
Appleton 2nd’s game was cancelled and Appleton 3rd and 4th teams both lost.
Skipper Mark Sands hit 52 in the 3rd XI game.
Glazxebury lost by nine wickets at Frodsham after being bowled out for 120 despite a defiant knock by skipper Andrew Calvert, 38.
