Police hunt launched after man stabbed in street

POLICE at Warrington are seeking witnesses of a serious assault which left a man in a critical condition in hospital.
The attack took place in Longford at about 3.30pm yesterday near the roundabout separating Northway and Howson Road.
A 21-year-old man suffered stab wounds. He walked to Fisher Avenue but was then taken to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool where he is now said to be in a critical but stable condition.
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the area around that time which may help with the investigation to get in touch.
Detective Sergeant Alison Howarth said: “I would like to reassure residents that this appears to be an isolated incident. Officers remain in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
“Our investigation is in the early stages and enquiries are ongoing.
“I urge anyone who witnessed the incident, which we believe involved a group of males, has dashcam footage of it or saw anything suspicious in the area around that time to call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 73389, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
