MPs champion first-ever disability rugby league match

TWO MPs tabled a motion in the House of Commons congratulating all those involved in Britain’s first Physical Disability Rugby League match which took place in Warrington

The game between Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos was played at the Victoria Park Asics Stadium on February 4.

Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid and Leeds North MP Alex Sobel tabled a motion welcoming the first ever Physical Disability Rugby Match, which congratulates all who took part and expresses the hope that more club will establish Physical Disability teams to provide further opportunities to be involved  in the game.

Leeds Rhinos won the tightly fought game 22-10 in front of a crowd of more than 1,000

Mr Rashid said: ” Physical Disability Rugby League is a fantastic version of the game, and I congratulate the Warrington Wolves Foundation, Leeds Rhinos Foundation, and all involved in establishing the concept in the United Kingdom. I hope that we will see other clubs emerge, to ensure that more people living with disabilities across the United Kingdom can play rugby league.”
