WARRINGTON-based Encore Productions – who style themselves as amateur theatre with a professional attitude – are to stage a rare modern classic “Into the Woods.”
The show, with words and music by Stephen Sondheim, based on several of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, with main characters taken from “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Rapunzel” and “Cinderella.”
It tells the story of a childless baker and his wife and their quest to start a family, their meeting with a witch who has placed a curse on them and their interaction with other storybook characters during their journey.
Encore describe it as a timeless yet relevant piece of classic theatre for all the family.
The show goes on at the Brindley Theatre, Runcorn, from October 19-21.
