WALTON Hall & Gardens has been awarded the much desired and nationally recognised Visit England quality assurance mark for leisure and tourism with a best ever score for the park.
The Walton Estate Management had already secured six Green Flag awards across its areas, while Visit England take into account such things as Trip Advisor, where public views and comments are considered, in assessing a site for its quality as an attraction.
Walton Estate staff have worked determinedly to provide a sense of structure and direction to the estate and have been able to capitalise on the investment secured in order to better the experience for visitors at Walton Gardens.
The signage installed, along with the outdoor games facilities and the professional feel of Walton Estates webpages, were singled out by VisitEngland for praise.
Barry Noble, VisitEngland quality assessor, said: “The quality assessment scheme aims to maintain high standards at visitor attractions. Walton Hall and Gardens continues to meet the required standard thanks to the ongoing efforts of staff and management to develop and renew facilities.”
Cllr Tony Higgins, executive board member for leisure and community, said: “Walton Hall has long been a jewel in the crown of Warrington’s parks and green spaces and I’m determined that it will remain so. I’d like to congratulate manager Neil Simpson and his staff for all their hard work which has been recognised once again with this prestigious award.”
Cllr Peter Carey, chair of the Walton Estate Liaison Group, said: “I’m very proud of the team at Walton for this wonderful achievement. The award is testament to the dedication of all involved and it is particularly pleasing to see an improved score, which gives both recognition for the efforts of recent years and encouragement to strive to improve further still.”

Well Done to the Walton Hall & Gardens team for their dedication and hard work! Also credit to Cllr Tony Higgins who seems to have genuine enthusiasm for making improvements to the town’s parks.
It’s so good to see this lovely park getting the care and attention it so deservedly merits. Though it’s still so shocking to think that we came so close to losing it! Cllrs Bob Barr, Ian Marks and council officer Andy Farrell, you should be hanging your heads in shame today! if you’d had your way the people of Warrington and their children and grandchildren would have been deprived of this lovely place for ever.
