Man charged after pedestrians and pram hit by motorbike

A 27-year-old local man has been arrested and charged following an incident involving a group of people and a pram being hit by a motorbike on Kingsway South, Warrington, earlier this week.

The man arrested has now been charged with two assaults by beating, two assaults occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

The incident happened Shortly after 3.30pm on, Wednesday 16 August, when officers were called to reports of a collision on Kingsway South, Warrington.

Officers attended the scene and it was alleged that a red motorbike had mounted the kerb onto the pavement and collided with a group of people, hitting a pram. Following the collision an altercation then broke out between the group of people and the rider of the bike.

The child was uninjured as a result of the incident and there were no reports of any serious injuries to the group of pedestrians. The rider of the motorbike sustained injuries to his leg; he was taken to Warrington District General Hospital and later discharged.

Detective Sergeant Richard Langford said: “Investigations in relation to this incident are currently ongoing and we are following a number of lines of enquiry, including CCTV analysis and speaking to local residents.

“As part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the local area at the time of the incident and believes that they may have witnessed the incident or events prior to or after the incident taking place. I urge anyone with any information to contact the team here at Warrington on 101.”
