Motorist airlifted to hospital after M6 collision

A motorist was airlifted to hospital after a collision on the M6 at Lymm earlier today – resulting in the Northbound carriageway being closed for around five hours.

The collision at around 08.30am involved a car and a flatbed lorry which were both travelling in the same direction.

The driver of the car has been airlifted to hospital. The Southbound carriageway was closed to facilitate the helicopter.

Officers remain working at the scene to establish the cause of the collision. The Northbound carriageway eventually re-opened at about 13.50pm
