Businesses forced to close due to power cut at Culcheth

A number of businesses and homes have been affected by a power cut at Culcheth, Warrington.

A faulty cable has cut off 254 homes and businesses in the village.

Engineers from Electricity North West are currently on site and power is expected to be back on during the early hours of the morning.

Some restaurants in the village have been forced to close, including The Raj Indian Restaurant.

Anyone planning to visit premises in Culcheth is advised to ring first.

A spokesperson for the electric company said: “An underground cable fault has caused the loss of power to 254 customers in Culcheth at 1pm this afternoon. Our engineers are onsite and they’re working to restore supplies as quickly and safely as possible.

“We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience and thank them for their patience. If anyone would like any further information we are on hand 24/7 on the new free national number 105, or 0800 195 4141 or on Twitter @ElectricityNW.”
