Vandals blamed for outbreak of grass fires

VANDALS are believed to have started two grass fires at Warrington – and police would like information leading to the culprits.
One blaze was started in woodland off Westbrook Way and was dealt with by a crew from Warrington fire station.
Another was on land off Stringer Crescent, Latchford and was extinguished by a crew from Warrington using a hose reel je.
A fire service spokesman said: “Arson is a serious offence and can cost lives.
Anyone who can help is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
Another fire involved a railway embankment off Winwick Lane, Warrington and was believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette.
There was also a fire in parkland at the side of the M6 at Birchwood which was extinguished by firefighters from Birchwood using a hose reel jet.
