Planners hold-back on bungalow scheme

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington  have deferred a decision on proposals to demolish a detached bungalow and replace it with a taller, broader dormer house.
The property is in Wellfield Road, Culcheth – and the plan is opposed by Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee deferred a decision because they were not happy with the amount of detail in the proposals.
The committee was the property was in an area where most of the properties were bungalows.
Parish council objections were based on the height of the proposed building which, they claim, would be out of character with the other bungalows.
Although some of them were dormer bungalows, the extra floor had been added without increasing the height of the property.
Three neighbours also objected to the scheme on the grounds the property would be overbearing and out of character with the area. They also argued that the proposal represented overdevelopment of the site.
