Young woman heartbroken after abandoned foals put to sleep

A young woman has been left heartbroken after discovering two young foals, apparently dumped at roadside in Winwick, which had to be put down by the RSPCA.

Hannah Mason aged 22, who owns Winwick Farm shop, shared the graphic images on facebook and hopes “the scum” responsible can be brought to justice.

The two young foals were dumped in the middle of yesterday’s storm in a cul-de-sac, just off Southworth Lane in Winwick.

At the time they were discovered they were barely alive and very weak.

The police and RSPCA were alerted.

Hannah said: “It breaks my heart, these poor innocent souls don’t deserve this and I’d really like to see the person who did this brought to justice.

“Let’s all hope and pray the scum that did this rots.”

After hearing that the animals had been put to sleep by the RSPCA Hannah posted: ” Euthanasia is probably the best thing to have happened to them. I’m so heartbroken over this. Thank you to everyone sharing, hopefully we can still find the scum that dumped them and make them pay for it.

“I am Very emotional but hopefully more people will be aware and there is more chance the scum get caught out and punished for what they did.”

Last October two horses were found dumped at a roadside in Winwick – but no one was ever brought to justice.

Earlier this week a large Boa Constrictor snake was found dumped at the roadside at Burtonwood.

If anyone has any information on those responsible for the foals please contact the RSPCA animal cruelty hotline on 0300 1234 999.

  1. Haunting images and ones I can’t get out of my head. So very sad and yes I agree Gary it’s sickening 🙁
I’m sorry and I know I shouldn’t say this but I can’t help but wonder if euthanasia was just the simplest, quickest and cheapest option for the RSPCA.
We often see so many emaciated dogs on social media, in the press, and on rescue sites, all close to near death but who are then thankfully cared for by vets, rescues or individuals and miraculously they recover with some care and effort so surely they [the RSPCA] could have at least tried with these two foals or found someone else willing to try rather than putting them to sleep the same day they were found. Cost maybe ??
So sad and part of me wishes someone other body had gone to their aid such as Warrington Animal Welfare or a Horse Rescue rather than the RSPCA. Enough said……

  2. Sorry I forgot to say…I hope the lady (Hanna Mason if you are reading) who saw these poor foals with her own eyes and took the photos is ok as just seeing the photos is upsetting enough but to have actually been there and seen them like that in the flesh must have been so bloody awful and upsetting 🙁 You tried to help them though Hanna so well done you for caring and here’s hoping whoever they belonged too is tracked down, caught, dealt with accordingly and also named and shamed x x
